Rand Paul responds to Chris Christie’s call for ‘more tools’ to spy on Americans

We knew that somebody was going to call for a bigger police state at the first Republican Presidential Primary Debate of the 2016 election cycle. That man turned out to be New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, in a notable clash with U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Gov. Christie bragged that he is the “only person on this stage who has actually filed applications under the Patriot Act” and said the federal government should have “more tools” to spy on Americans, specifically referring to the NSA’s mass collection of telephone records.

“Use the 4th Amendment — get a warrant!” the senator fired back.
